We are parent representatives working together with professionals to improve services and the delivery of services so that they better meet families’ needs.
In raising their families, parents and carers gain first-hand experience of using local services. By listening to them we identify what works well, what needs improving and what is missing from Swindon – typically referred to as ‘gaps in provision’.
Parents and Carers can help pinpoint problems frequently experienced by families with disabled children. This pool of knowledge is useful to many professionals. It can help them improve how services are delivered, so they better meet the needs of the families.
When parents, carers and professionals work closely together, recognising each other’s expert knowledge, informed decisions can be made which will make the best use of people’s time and money.
Parents and carers understand the problems and issues that families with SEND children face and this knowledge can be used practically in shaping services that are relevant and right for the children and their families in Swindon.
